1. Annual General Meeting (AGM), Quarterly Network Meetings & Joint Planning Sessions
   Convening structured forums for accountability, strategic direction, coordination, and collective planning among member CSOs.

2. CSO Mapping Exercises
   Identifying, profiling, and connecting civil society actors within the municipality to strengthen collaboration, reduce duplication, and improve coordinated service delivery.

3. Capacity Building and Training
   Conducting workshops, seminars, and mentorship programs to strengthen member CSOs’ skills in governance, fundraising, advocacy, leadership, and program management.

4. Advocacy and Policy Engagement
   Coordinating joint advocacy campaigns, policy dialogues, and engagements with municipal and national government authorities to influence laws, development plans, and service delivery systems.

5. Information Sharing, Coordination & Visibility Promotion
   Facilitating regular meetings, newsletters, databases, and communication platforms where member CSOs exchange updates, research, and opportunities, while promoting the visibility of member organizations and the Network.

6. Networking, Partnership Building & Resource Mobilization Support
   Creating linkages between CSOs, municipal authorities, private sector, academia, development partners, and community leaders; identifying funding opportunities; developing joint proposals; and promoting collaborations that attract donors.

7. Monitoring, Research and Documentation
   Collecting data, tracking community issues, evaluating interventions, and documenting best practices to strengthen learning, evidence-based advocacy, and accountability.

   Member organizations become more professionally managed, better governed, and more effective in delivering sustainable services and programs.

   Standardized reporting systems, shared monitoring tools, and peer learning promote responsible governance, increased public trust, and improved visibility of CSOs.

   Productive relationships with government, development partners, private sector, and community leaders enhance coordination and development impact.

1. CSO Mapping & Monitoring in Bunamwaya Division

Date: 16 April 2026

Location: Bunamwaya Division

Activity Description: A joint CSO mapping and monitoring exercise was conducted by the Makindye-Ssabagabo CSO Network and officials of Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipal Council in Bunamwaya Division. The exercise involved visiting and profiling CSOs in the division, documenting their locations, areas of intervention, organisational status, staffing, beneficiaries, sources of funding, achievements and challenges, and providing guidance on areas requiring improvement. Four organisations were documented, working in areas including youth skilling, education, support to orphans and vulnerable children, disability services, agriculture, counselling and women empowerment. 

Outcome

The exercise provides the CSOs and the Municipality with a clearer picture of the CSO landscape and the services available to communities in Bunamwaya Division. It creates opportunities for better coordination, networking and collaboration between CSOs and the Municipality, while helping CSOs connect with the CSO Network, participate in quarterly review meetings, access guidance from the CDO's office and identify opportunities to benefit from government programmes and funding. The exercise also highlighted organisational capacity gaps—such as record keeping, staffing, visibility, governance and networking—enabling CSOs to receive practical recommendations for strengthening their operations and improving service delivery. 

2. Capacity Building Workshop in Proposal Writing

Date: 10 June 2026

Facilitator: Mr Joseph Mukasa (HELP)

Location: Lweza Community Health Program Offices.

Activity Description: In line with the network's objectives 1 and 3, Makindye-Ssabagabo CSO Network organised a one-day workshop designed to equip member CSOs with knowledge and skills in proposal writing and identifying sources of funds. A network member, Mr Joseph Mukasa of HELP, facilitated the workshop at no cost to the network or members.

Outcome

Following the workshop, member CSOs demonstrated improved ability to identify relevant funding opportunities and develop funding proposals. Some members subsequently reported using the skills gained to prepare or improve proposals submitted to potential funders, an activity they had previously found difficult or were unable to undertake independently.
